BBS Chairman: Bahrain International Commercial Court reflects Kingdom’s commitment to keeping pace with global developments in trade and arbitration
Manama, Nov. 6 (BNA): Salah Ahmed Al Midfa, Chairman of the Bahrain Bar Society (BBS), emphasised that the establishment of the Bahrain International Commercial Court represents a strategic step towards consolidating the Kingdom’s position among leading nations in international commercial dispute resolution. He said it reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to developing an advanced legal environment that attracts investment and supports economic growth.
Al Midfa explained that the court, established in cooperation with the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC), comes at a time when commercial disputes increasingly transcend borders. This, he said, requires judicial institutions capable of keeping pace with global realities and providing fair and impartial solutions in line with the highest international standards.
He added that the court opens new opportunities for Bahraini lawyers, enabling them to represent international entities and gain valuable experience, thereby enhancing professional competence and consolidating Bahrain’s position as a leading regional and international centre for dispute resolution.
The BBS Chairman noted that the Bahrain Bar Society was an active partner in the project, through its cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute. This cooperation, he said, aims to qualify Bahraini lawyers and enable them to appear before international judicial bodies, strengthening their professional presence and aligning their practice with global legal standards.
Al Midfa concluded by emphasising that the launch of the court underscores Bahrain’s commitment to keeping pace with global developments in trade and arbitration, underlining the Kingdom’s determination to build a comprehensive legal framework that supports business and investment and upholds justice.
